| Discovery tours by train: China Week 2014 |

Who has not dreamt about a long distance train journey? The romance of watching the world go by? The excitement of stopping in the middle of nowhere? The thrill of reaching one's destination?
To entice young people into a mesmerising, exciting adventure of a lifetime, the Federation's focus for China Week this year is train journeys all over mainland China.
46 teams of young, independent travellers are exploring the country's vast interior by planning their routes to destinations including Wuhan, Xi'an, Hangzhou, Guilin, Llasa, Beijing and Dali City in Yunnan.
On their return, they will share this great adventure with photos, videos and talks, before a concluding symposium on 3 July with Mr Tsang Tak-sing, GBS, JP, Secretary for Home Affairs, as Guest of Honour. Guest speakers will also include Mr Chan Wai Tong, from RTHK's Cultural Heritage Programme, and Mr Shek Kang-chuen from Hong Kong Economic Times.
We at the Federation very much hope that this will be the start of many adventures of discovery for Hong Kong's young people.

Vision for Kai Tak: M21 video contest
This contest, just launched by HKFYG's M21 for the government's Kai Tak Fantasy project, is organized by the Development Bureau (Works Branch) Energizing Kowloon East. Called A Place For You, it has 2 divisions for different age groups and M21 is holding 2 free video production workshops on 5 and 12 July at the EKEO Exhibition Hall. Deadline for contest entries: 8 September. Winning videos, up to 2 minutes long, will be chosen in November by two well-known local film directors, Adam Wong and Heiward Mak. Prizes are worth up to HK$100,000.

Football Gladiator@M21 brings football skills to the mobile screen
This new 12-episode football video programme, produced by M21,first went on air on 5 June, viewable at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQbzvH0Ou2o. Episode 2 is now also available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ0dJPrjaWg. Called Football Gladiator@M21, the TV programme features football skills such as dribbling and clean catching, demonstrated by youth in Hong Kong's various districts. Ten more episodes to follow. YCPC and HK Police launch new phase of Project R with sponsorship from The Keswick Foundation
This month, HKFYG's YCPC (Youth Crime Prevention Centre) and partners, the New Territories South Region Hong Kong Police Force, launched a new phase of Project R with sponsorship from The Keswick Foundation. This cooperative programme offers an immediate, supportive referral service to juvenile delinquents and their families. The first of its kind in Hong Kong, it was launched in 2012 in Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing Police Districts and has expanded since then to include Shatin, Lantau and Airport Police Districts. From June 2012-January 2014, 281 youngsters used the service successfully, after police referral. 95% have not reoffended. It will continue until 2017. Contact Bob, tel 2487 6151, for more details.
Cross-border study tour for talented youth with Financial Services
and Treasury Bureau
A study tour in Shanghai for university students with talent in finance is being organized and funded by the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau and supported by HKFYG this year. It runs from
9 June-19 July, and also has funding from Hong Kong's 9 universities. Visits to government offices, regulators and exchanges in Hong Kong and Shanghai will take place, plus a 4-week work attachment with financial services companies. The aims are to enhance understanding of monetary systems, financial markets, business culture and financial company practice in Hong Kong and on the mainland. Burberry Create 2014 with HKFYG's YEN
The Federation's Youth Employment Network is collaborating with the Burberry Foundation to organize the Burberry Create 2014 programme again this summer. It includes pre-placement training, summer placement and a creative challenge for Secondary Six Students. Participants were selected after an interview with Burberry and their 7-week placement has just begun, with real-world work experience and challenges.
