Global winner: Viola of YBHK wins award - Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2015
Viola Lam Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2015
How does one get children to learn mathematics in a way that is fun, engaging and, most importantly, productive? Viola Lam discovered how and has now been recognized globally as the "Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2015".

Starting with seed funding and mentorship from Youth Business Hong Kong (YBHK), Viola has seen her business, FS Education Centre, grow and thrive, employing 20 people and reaching 37,000 local students through her innovative teaching using visual aids and a free online platform.

Chosen from a field of 68 contenders from around the world, being named "Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2015" by Youth Business International (YBI) is a great credit to Viola herself, but also to YBHK and the Federation each of which supports, encourages and enables young people to look at entrepreneurship as another way of employability.

All of us at the Federation and in YBHK join in with Sir Malcolm Williamson, Chairman of YBI and Chair of the judging panel, who stated, "Viola is an outstanding example of the power of young entrepreneurs to do good for society, and we commend her on her achievements."

Congratulations!

Sir Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund for picture book libraries in kindergartens

HKFYG's three kindergarten/nurseries adopt a picture book approach to teach reading, with a wide variety of activities. This motivates children to read and enlarge their vocabulary and is especially effective when parents participate too. Now, a grant from the Sir Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund to build picture book libraries is adding extra scope and quality to the strategy.
