"Everybody likes to play games, especially young people," says Jason Cheung, co-founder of Master Archer. "Our tailor made games go further than that. They are suitable for everyone, from young people to the elderly. You can play them indoors or outdoors and you never grow out of them."
"Think of each game as a question," Jason continues. "The answer is the plan you make for your game and by implementing the plan you test your solution."
Bows and foam-tipped arrows are used and the focus is on strategy, tactics, teamwork, concentration, resilience. Designed by specialist sports coaches, counsellors, social workers and physiotherapists, the games suit people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities and Master Archer's clients include both companies and schools. "The games are socially inclusive and players learn through self-observation but they also learn how to observe others. It is a truly active group learning process."
Master Archer was founded by two young entrepreneurs based at the HKFYG Jockey Club Social Innovation Centre. The founders met like-minded people, shared resources and received support at the Centre. They are also part of the Federation's Youth Business Hong Kong (YBHK) entrepreneurship programme. |

YBI Mentor of the Year: David Chan from YBHK
Mr David Chan Tai-wei, engineer, analyst, private hedge fund and business consultant, is a volunteer business mentor of 10 years' standing with Youth Business Hong Kong (YBHK), the Federation's youth entrepreneurship scheme. His dedication is being rewarded by Youth Business International (YBI) at the YBI Young Entrepreneur Awards ceremony in Uganda this month where he will be named Mentor of the Year. His extensive knowledge of pitching, angel investors, marketing, strategic planning and sales have supported many entrepreneurs over the years.

HKFYG Jockey Club Social Innovation Centre and YBHK startups
win HKICT Awards 2016
Hong Kong ICT Awards recognize achievements of information & communications technology professionals and our congratulations go to two Federation-supported startups who have won awards this month. They are Pokeguide, founded by Brian Hui and André Hui who created an app for MTR users, and Twitchy Finger Ltd who create game apps. Pokeguide, a tenant at the HKFYG Jockey Club Social Innovation Centre, is also a J.P. Morgan STartup Empowerment Programme (STEP) awardee through its association with the Federation. It won the Best Smart Hong Kong (Public Sector Information Application) Gold Award. Twitchy Finger won the Best Digital Entertainment (Entertainment Software) Special Mention Award (Mobile Game).

Reduce waste now: leading the way with the Environment and Conservation Fund
HKFYG's Jockey Club Sai Kung Outdoor Training Camp has funding from the Environment and Conservation Fund to organize a 1-year educational project to reduce municipal solid waste (MSW). It includes a "Green Angel" plan which encourages campers to recycle, an award scheme and a real-time recycling scenario using garbage bags designated for paid MSW management. Recommendations for MSW implementation in Hong Kong will also be made.

Crime prevention award scheme at HKFYG supported by Lions Club
The Federation's Youth Crime Prevention Centre has received funding from the Lions Club of Tsuen Wan to organize the 2017 Turning Point Youth Improvement Award. Its aims are to reward young delinquents and vulnerable youth who have transformed their lives through rehabilitation. 50 nominees will be interviewed and 8 awardees will be selected.

Calling for hotline volunteers during peak exam time
The Media Counselling Centre at HKFYG is recruiting voluntary counsellors for its hotline service over the coming exam period. There will be training for them on 22, 28 and 29 May. All offers of help are welcome. A roster will be arranged for volunteers for periods of six months once a week from June-December 2016.

Dragon Foundation Golf Tournament at Mission Hills Golf Club 5 April 2016
The 8th Dragon Foundation Golf Tournament is on 15 April 2016 at the Leadbetter Course, Mission Hills Golf Club Dongguan Clubhouse. Funds raised will be used for Dragon Foundation leadership training programmes and establishing a network for young Chinese people around the world. Farm Road Youth SPOT: 「We」Care‧讓愛‧喜‧動全城 sponsored by The Board of Management of the Chinese Permanent Cemeteries
The aim of this project is to learn about organizing and taking part in community service events, free of charge. Anyone aged 14-25 is welcome. Activities include being a volunteer, making home visits, tutoring and getting involved in fun activities like preparations for carnivals.

K&K Charity Thai Boxing Training Program
The Federation's Youth Crime Prevention Centre has funding from K&K Charity Ltd for a 6-month Thai Boxing Training Programme. Working with HKFYG social workers, Executive Director of K&K Property, Mr Kino Law and his colleagues will act as mentors for 30 youth who have committed minor offences, helping them build support networks and enhance positive identity, self-efficacy and emotional management. The opening ceremony was at the HKFYG Jockey Club Sai Kung Outdoor Training Camp last month.

Youth I.D.E.A.S. think tank report no. 9 from HKFYG's Youth Research Centre
Challenges and Opportunities: Hong Kong's Role as a Super-connector
Hong Kong has the competency to become a super-connector for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) according to this study from HKFYG's Youth Research Centre. It found that the biggest challenge among HK people is lack of familiarity with most BRI countries. Data gathered from its 543 young respondents also revealed that 51.2% worried about a potential deterioration of the city's international status of Hong Kong yet nearly 48% thought that the BRI could benefit its economy. Youth I.D.E.A.S. think tank members recommended the setting up of a "Multicultural Exchange Fund" in order to strengthen young people's international perspective.
